Barnes
& Noble University Opens Registration for Free Online Courses
(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 2000-- Classes scheduled to begin next
month at www.bn.com Barnes & Noble.com announced today that registration
is open for Barnes & Noble University, the free online education
resource offering courses through the bookseller's Web site, www.bn.com.
The broad-based curriculum covers a range of subjects, from gardening
and classical music to Shakespeare and organizing stock portfolios.
Classes begin in mid-July and will be taught by a faculty of experts.
At launch, more than 35 courses are being offered, including Building
Your First Web Page; Introduction to Jazz; The Art of Networking
and An Introduction to Astronomy. Last month, Barnes & Noble.com
announced that it had acquired a minority stake in notHarvard.com,
the pioneer in developing online branded universities and the
concept of eduCommerce and the Barnes & Noble University. In the
agreement with notHarvard.com, Barnes & Noble.com is the primary
distributor of the company's eduCommerce course materials across
its network of branded online universities.
